The Prayer Vigil service for Juanita R. Hansen, age 75, was 7:00 p.m., Monday, Nov. 15, at the Bader-Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk with Fr. Patrick Shea officiating. The funeral Mass was 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.
Juanita died Friday night, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver, Colo., following a short illness. She was born April 17, 1918 in Newell, S.D., the daughter of Frank and Mabel (Anderson) Lanouette. She graduated from high school in Newcastle, Wyo., in 1938. On March 24, 1938, she married Virgil A. Hansen in Newcastle. They lived in Lusk from 1944 through 1965 where they raised their son and two daughters. Juanita was in charge of the Food Service for the Niobrara County Schools.
In August in 1981, Juanita and Virgil retired and moved back to Lusk. Juanita was a member of the Catholic Ladies Auxiliary, Indian Creek Club, Does Drove #64; served as president of the Board of Directors of the Senior Citizen's Center and in 1992 she was named the Outstanding Homemaker by the Niobrara County Extension Service.
Survivors include: her husband, Virgil H. Hansen of Lusk; one son, Duane R. Hansen of Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Bonnie Germeroth of Dumont, Colo. and Sally Sylvester of Scottsbluff, Nebr.; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; she is also survived by two sisters, May Costello of Casper and Florence Jacobs of Lander, Wyo.; three brothers, Wallace Lanouette of Rapid City, S.D., Hugo Lanouette of Ft. Calhoun, Neb., and Victor Lanouette of Casper, Wyo.
Memorials to the Lusk Senior Center or to the Does Drove #64 in Lusk will be appreciated by the family.
