Vera Louise Hesco, 60, of Greybull passed away Sept. 2 at Deaconess Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
Vera was born in Hays, Kan., Oct. 3, 1937, to Paul Clark and Delma Grundmeier Clark.
She received her schooling in Greybull, graduating from Greybull High School in 1955.
She attended the University of Wyoming and received her degree in elementary education in 1959.
Vera married Louis William (Bill) Cramer Jr. in August of 1959. Their daughter, Nancy, was born in 1961 in Cheyenne.
Bill was killed Sept. 6, 1964 in an automobile accident while working in Utah.
Vera taught elementary school in Casper in 1965-1966. On St. Patrick's Day 1966 she met John Hesco.
They were married Sept. 17, 1966 and made their home in Greybull. Their son, Paul, was born in Greybull on Oct. 4, 1967.
Vera began a teaching career in the Greybull school system which spanned 30 years. She taught in the Greybull Elementary School, specializing in Chapter 1 reading instruction.
She retired in January 1996. She was selected to be a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority of teaching professionals.
Vera was involved in many community organizations. She actively participated in the Fern Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving in many capacities.
She was an adult leader for Job's Daughters. She helped organize the building of the planter while volunteering for the Wyoming Centennial Committee. She was very interested in the history of her family and was active in many genealogical societies around the country.
Vera and Jon enjoyed activities involving classic and antique cars. They were members of both local and national car clubs. They traveled around the country attending many conventions and shows.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Cramer, and her mother, Delma Clark.
She is survived by her father, Paul Clark of Greybull, her husband, John Hesco of Greybull, her brother and sister-in-law, John Clark and Sally Peterson of Greeley, Colo., her daughter, Nancy Vernonda of Loveland, Colo., her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Carrie Hesco of Cheyenne, and two grandsons, Anthony and Jacob Vernonda of Loveland.
A memorial has been established at the First Interstate Bank to benefit Greybull Public Library.
Holy Eucharist was celebrated Sept. 5 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Basin. Father Gary Waddingham presided. Internment at Hillside Cemetery followed the services. Atwood Family Funeral Directors, Inc. were in charge of the arrangements
