Mrs. Hern Dies In Douglas Wed.

Mrs. Frankie Hern, 67, of Douglas, sister of Walt Reed of Lance Creek, died last Wednesday in the Converse Memorial Hospital of a stroke and massive cerebral hemorrhage.

Funeral services were held in Douglas, Friday at the Congregational Church. Burial was in the Douglas cemetery.

Casket bearers were George Wills, Elvin Haworth, Ed Russell, Gene Morvee, Bill Canaday and Willard Ivester.

She was born October 2, 1899 at Harrison, to Walter C. and Effie (Stevens) Reed. She was married to Henry Hern, September 15, 1926. They were the parents of one son, William (Bill).

They lived in the Orin community. After the death of her husband, she moved to Douglas where she was County Superintendent for 12 years. She returned to teaching in 1955 and retired from teaching in 1965.

Mrs. Hern was a member of the Douglas Congregational Church, Past Matron of the Eastern Star, belonging to the Past Matrons Club, was a Rebekah and a member of the Flying Needles Club.

Her husband, parents and three brothers died previously.

Survivors include her son Bill of Scottsbluff, three grandchildren, one sister, Faye Russell, Cheyenne; two brothers, Ray of Lance Creek; Joe of Watford City, N. Dak.
