Former Resident Dies July 10, Husband Follows July 15

Mrs. Vona Vieve Hedges, 81, of Chugwater and formerly of this area, died July 10 at the Platte County Memorial Hospital after a short illness. The following Thursday, July 15, Mr. Hedges died while visiting friends at Estes Park, Colo. He was 85.

Services for Mrs. Hedges were held at the Wheatland Methodist Church July 13.

She was born in Union Mills, Ind., June 20, 1890. She married Herman F. Piper in 1911 at Pueblo, Colo. They were the parents of two sons, Harold and Duane Piper. Mr. Piper died in 1955. She married E. M. Hedges in Phoenix , Ariz., in 1958.

Ernest McCormick Hedges was born March 30, 1886. He was a retired businessman, rancher and deputy sheriff. He was a 50-year member of Chugwater Lodge No. 23, AF and AM.

Survivors include her two sons Duane Piper of Las Vegas and Harold Piper of Chugwater; his two daughters Mrs. Mary Marshall, Virginia Beach, Va., Mrs. P. E. Johnson of Cheyenne; a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

The Schrader Chapel of Wheatland was in charge of the arrangements.
