Lloyd Hargreaves Dies Here Friday

Lloyd D. Hargreaves, 71, died at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital in Lusk Friday following a month's illness.

Mr. Hargreaves was born January 4, 1895, in Lusk, to Charles and Minnie Hargreaves. He resided on a ranch south of Lusk in the Rawhide Butte area with his brother Noel. They were the well known Hargreaves brothers of this area.

They sold their ranch to Earl Slagle Sr. a few years ago, buying a trailer house and moving it on Nigger Baby Creek, close to the Rawhide Buttes, a ranch owned by Robert Wolfe of Jay Em.

Mr. Hargreaves served in the American Expeditionary Forces in France during World War I, was a member of the American Legion Post No. 4 of Lusk, and a member of the Elks Lodge of Lusk.

Funeral service was held at the Peet Chapel in Lusk, Sunday at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. James E. Davis of the Congregational Church officiating, with graveside services by the American Legion at the Lusk cemetery.

Mrs. Lyle Eddy, Mrs. Emerson Bonner, Mark Lohr, and Clark Germann sang "God Be With You" and "The Old Rugged Cross," accompanied by Mrs. A. F. DeCastro at the organ. Pallbearers were Dr. Charles Kilgore, Wes Wolfe, Robert Wolfe, Bucky Barnett, Harry Austin, and Otto Krekeler.

Survivors include his brother Noel of Lusk, a sister Mrs. Nellie Haynes of Guernsey, three nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Neil.
