Herb Hanson, 70, of Harrison, Nebr., died November 17, 1998 at Regional West Hospital in Scottsbluff. Funeral services were Friday, November 20 at the Church of the Nativity in Harrison. Burial was in the Harrison Cemetery. Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Harrison Ambulance Fund.
Herb was born on January 10, 1928 in rural Sioux County to Guy W. Hanson and Angie (Lohr) Hanson. He graduated from Sioux County High School in 1945. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Force. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Eberspecher on October 19, 1950. They lived in Sioux County their entire married life. As a young man, he worked as a carpenter with his father, later owning an appliance store in Harrison. In 1962 he went to work for Niobrara Electric Association of Lusk, Wyo. He retired from there in 1990. Herb was a member of the Harrison VFW.
Herb had the natural ability to repair almost anything. He was the first one called when something needed fixed. He was always willing to help out. His greatest joy was watching his grandchildren compete in sporting events; especially when his granddaughter "Libs" won the National Finals Barrel Racing Championship.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Harrison, and daughter, Judy of Broken Bow, Nebr. Also surviving are a twin brother, Bob of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; two sisters, Caroline Pyle of Martin, S. Dak. and Wilma Geiser of Ardmore, S. Dak.; two grandchildren John Andrew and Elizabeth Ann of Oconto, Nebr.; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, infant John Bradley and James Dee, one brother, Ralph and infant sister, Ida Ruth.
The family of Herb Hanson would like to thank everyone who sent food, cards, memorial money, flowers and prayers at the time of his death. We would also like to than the family and friends who came to visit and offer encouragement and help in the months prior to his death. A special thanks to the ladies of the Altar Society who served such a wonderful meal. We appreciate your kindness more than words can express. People in Harrison are "The Best". Thanks for everything.
