Rosetta Schafer Grant
Mrs. Rosetta Schafer Grant. 71, died at her home in Gering early Friday morning, Sept. 29. She was born October 11, 1895, at Harrison. She graduated from Harrison High School and from Grand Island College at Grand Island, Nebr.
After graduating from college she went to Alliance where she married Charles F. Schafer on July 1, 1919. They moved to Scottsbluff that same year and owned and operated the Schafer Tire and Battery Shop until Mr. Schafer died in an airplane accident August 29, 1929.
She worked for the Torrington Livestock Commission Co. and the Morrison Livestock Commission Co. for several years
On December 29, 1953, she married Fred Grant at Julesburg, Colo. They moved to Gering in 1954. Mr. Grant died April 11, 1955.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Harrison.
Survivors include one son, Charles R. Schafer of Denver; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Barmenter of Gering, Mrs. Dorothy Rossiter of Denver, and Mrs. Katheryn McCarty of Casey, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Bixler of Scottsbluff and Mrs. Wanda Cooper of Omaha; 22 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Three brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held October 2, at the Benson-Joliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with the Rev. Glen W. Marshall officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Panhandle Cancer Fund.
