Service held for Gillespie
Funeral service was held in Douglas last Wednesday for former Lance Creek resident Mrs. C. C. (Blanche) Gillespie. Rev. Harry Randall of the First United Methodist Church officiated at the service conducted at the Stark-Lapham Funeral Home. Burial was made in the Douglas cemetery.
Mrs. Gillespie died July 15 in North Platte. She was born at Albion, Neb. January 6, 1906 and moved to Douglas when a small child. She was married to C. C. Gillespie and two children were born to the couple, Stanley and Phyllis. Mr. Gillespie was employed by the Continental Pipeline Company while the family lived in Lance Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Gillespie left here in the early 1960's and made their home in Douglas until he died. Mrs. Gillespie moved to North Platte in 1974. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was a past matron of the Manville Chapter.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Joe Mahoney, North Platte, Neb.; one son, Stanley Gillespie of Hobbs, N.M. one brother, Harold McColl, La Mirada, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Bob (Marjorie) Moore, Buffalo and Mrs. James (Dorothy) O'Neill, San Francisco. Ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
