Mrs. Crete Gerlach, Former Resident Here, Dies in Omaha
Mrs. Crete O. Gerlach, 74, former resident of Harrison, died at Omaha September 27. Tress Powell, a brother, left Wednesday to attend the funeral services which were held there Friday and returned early this week.
Mrs. Gerlach was in Harrison for the 75th Anniversary but became ill and had been in an Omaha hospital since leaving Harrison August 23.
She came to Sioux County in the early 1900's and served as a nurse. Later she married George Gerlach who was cashier of the Harrison State Bank until it closed about 1933. They then moved to Sidney where he died a few years later, and she moved to Omaha.
Surviving are two daughters-Mrs. Stephen Dragoun, Omaha, and Mrs. Roy Cowdell, Wellington, Calif.; two brothers-Mr. Powell of Harrison and Otto E. Powell of Humboldt, Nebr.; five sisters-Mrs. Alfred Cope of Chicago, Mrs. Frank Fowler of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mrs. John Pyle of Sidney, Nebr., Mrs. Ralph Williamson of Strasburg, Colo., and Mrs. Lyle Ford of Glenrock, Wyo.
