William "Bill" N. Glasby
Funeral services for William "Bill" Glasby, age 91, were held Wednesday, January 19, at Edgemont United Churches with Rev. Lou Prohaska officiating. Bill died Friday at Weston County Hospital & Manor in Newcastle, Wyo.
Bill was born July 11, 1902, to William N. and Clara May (Cooksey) Glasby in Edgemont, S.D. He lived in the Edgemont and Mule Creek Junction, Wyo. area until the age of 30. He married Gladys Matthesen in 1954. He later worked for the Wyoming Highway Department for 38 years. Following the death of his wife, he moved back to his sister Alberta's ranch on the Cheyenne River in 1972.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in both Edgemont, S.D. and Sundance, Wyo. for which he received his 50 year pin two years ago. He was also a member of the Edgemont United Church and Edgemont Senior Citizens.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; 1 step daughter; and his parents.
He is survived by his son, Billy of Windsor, N.J.; daughter, Beth Lolley of Edgemont, S.D.; sister, Alberta Glasby, Cheyenne River, Wyo.; step son, Donny Matthesen Spearfish, S.D.; step daughter Mary Lou Harvey, Golden, Colo.; and 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established for the Edgemont Ambulance Service.
VandeBossche/McColley, in Edgemont, was in charge of arrangements.
