Mrs. Ellis, 86, Dies March 8
Mrs. Etta Ellis, 86, a Lusk area resident for much of the time since 1909, died in the Wilson Nursing Home in Douglas March 8. Funeral services were held in Lusk Friday, and burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.
The Rev. C. W. Jervis of the First Baptist Church of Lusk officiated at the services. Mrs. Emerson Bonner and Mrs. Lyle Eddy sang "Just as I Am" and "Rock of Ages." Mrs. A. F. DeCastro was organist.
Casketbearers were Harry Austin, Gilbert Brinckerhoff, Jess McCormick, Frank Taylor, Joe McConaughey and C. E. Marvin.
Mrs. Ellis, the daughter of James and Judith Fraser, was born at Dixon, Ky., April 22, 1879. When a small child the Fraser family located in northern Nebraska. She attended Nebraska schools and became the bride of William A. Ellis on February 4, 1903 at Bassett, Nebr. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis came to what is now Niobrara County and homesteaded nine miles northeast of Lusk. She practiced nursing here and later in the Wheatland area.
Her only survivors are nieces and nephews. One niece, Mrs. Elva King and Mr. King of Long Pine, Nebr., attended the services.
