Marcella "Marcie" Emily Ellerbroek

Funeral services for Marcella (Marcie) Emily Ellerbroek, 82, were held Jan. 26, 2000, at Vander Ploeg Mortuary in Sheldon, Iowa.

Marcie Ellerbroek died Jan. 20, 2000, at Life Care Center in Casper, where she had been a resident for a brief time. Her death was attributed to cancer.

She was born Jan. 8, 1918 in Early, Iowa, to Joseph and Elma McQuirk. She graduated from high school in Spirit Lake, Iowa in 1935, and moved to Omaha, Neb., where she graduated from the Omaha School of Cosmetology in 1936.

She married Timothy Haley in Omaha on Oct. 16, 1936. In 1952, she and her family moved to Lusk, where she resumed her career as a hairdresser and was a member of the Lusk Does. Her husband died in 1961 and she later returned to Spirit Lake, where she was a hostess at the new Inn.

She met Wilmer (Bill) Ellerbroek of Lake Okoboji, Iowa, and they were married Oct. 12, 1974. The couple divided their time between their lake home and a residence in Scottsdale, Ariz. She continued to reside in Scottsdale after Mr. Ellerbroek's death in 1987. Upon becoming ill in November 1999, she moved to Casper to be closer to family.

She is survived by one daughter, Marsha Harbaugh of Casper; two sons, Michael Haley of Portland, Ore., and James Haley of Boothbay Harbor, Maine; two sisters, Winnie Cline of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Rachel Carpenter of Spirit Lake; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and one grandson.

The family suggest memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
