Pioneer Resident Mrs. Dupes, 89, Dies Monday

Susan Irene Dupes, 89, of the Keeline area, died at the Douglas hospital Monday, Aug. 31. Funeral services were conducted from the Congregational Church of Lusk this Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with the Peet Mortuary in charge. Burial was in the Jireh Cemetery.

The Rev. Robert Boutwell officiated. Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist. Songs were "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me" and "Lord I'm Coming Home" sung by Dan Christian, Mrs. Samuel M. Thomas, Mark Lohr and Miss Donna Fullerton.

Casket bearers were Warren Freeman, Floyd Bartos, Wilmer Baars, Harvey Poage, David Poage and James Smith.

Honorary bearers were Bill Nuttall, Dick Lee, Frank Mahnke, Bernard Thon, Si West, G. L. Pfeifer and Cliff Parmely.

She was born March 21, 1881, at Comstock, Neb., to William C. and Lucinda Thomas. She lived in the Keeline area for 63 years and was a retired letter carrier. She was a member of the Keeline Congregational Church when the church was active. She is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She married J. L. Dupes December 25, 1911 at Douglas. Her parents and husband died previously, and a son, Frank L. Dupes, was killed in June 1942 in the battle at Midway Island during World War II

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Mick Coen of Keeline; two sons, Henry C. of Casper and James W. of Billings, Mont., two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
