Funeral services will be conducted for the late Rev. Ezra Duncan, at two o'clock tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at the Baptist church in Torrington, Wyoming. Rev. Duncan passed away at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 14th, following a lingering illness. He had undergone an operation, a year ago, from which he had never fully recovered.
During the years 1946 and 1947, he served as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lusk. He, with his wife, Marian, and small son, Robert, moved from Lusk to Torrington to make their home.
The Reverend Ezra Duncan, son of George W. and Nancy Ingram Duncan, was born in Pike County, Missouri, November 3rd, 1877 and passed away at Torrington, Wyoming, December 14, 1954. His parents lived on a farm, and there he grew to young manhood.
Feeling the call to a life of Christian service, he entered William Jewell College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree. While a student in William Jewell College, he was united in marriage with Callie Carter.
He continued his preparation for the ministry in the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, at Louisville, Ky., and graduated with a Master of Theology degree. Later he hid some graduate work in the University of Chicago.
He spent his first years in Christian service as a pastor serving churches in Spencer and New Castle, Indiana, and Scottsbluff, Nebr. The achievements of the Baptist Church of New Castle, Indiana under his leadership were indeed gratifying. This church grew rapidly in numbers doubling its membership several times during his term of service.
Following the death of his wife, Callie, Rev. Duncan spent a number of years in the field of Christian Education. He served as superintendent of the Omaha Baptist Union and in this capacity was instrumental in organizing the Park Side Baptist church and two Christian Centers; Mary Mann Mission and Fellowship House.
He became Director of Christian Education for the Nebraska Baptist State Convention, continuing there for more than ten years. From this position, he went to serve in a similar capacity in the Tri-State Area of Utah, Idaho and Montana. After six years in this position he served as pastor of the Baptist Church at Brighton, Colo., and later as pastor of the Baptist Church of Lusk, Wyo. Then he did interim pastoral work until poor health prohibited.
While serving in the Tri-State Area as Director of Christian Education, he was united in marriage with Marion Hasselblad.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Marian, and son, Robert, of Torrington, Wyoming; a daughter, Nancy Wacker and granddaughter, Phyllis Kay Wacker, of Aberdeen, Wash.; two brothers, R. C. Duncan of Elsberry, Missouri and Stanley Duncan of Overland, Missouri.

Funeral Services For Ezra Duncan Are Held Friday
Funeral services for the Rev. Ezra Duncan, 77, of Torrington, former pastor of the First Baptist Church in Lusk, were held in the Baptist Church in Torrington Friday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Herman Liese officiating.
Ezra Duncan, the son of George W. and Nancy Ingram Duncan, was born in Pike County, Mo., November 3, 1877 and died at Torrington December 14, 1954.

Rev. Ezra Duncan Dies in Torrington Tuesday of Cancer
Rev. Ezra Duncan of Torrington, former pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lusk, died of cancer Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. in the Memorial Hospital in Torrington.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Torrington.
Rev. Duncan was pastor here in 1946 and 1947. At the time of his death he was retired and his family were living in Torrington. He was taken ill this summer and entered the hospital several weeks ago.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marion H. Duncan and son Robert.
