Roy E. Dixon
Former Jay Em Couple Found Dead At Casper
A former Jay Em couple, Mr. and Mrs. Roy E. Dixon, was found dead in their home at Casper late Monday night, apparently the victims of a murder-suicide.
Law enforcement officials at Casper stated that they apparently had been shot, and a 32-caliber handgun was found still in the husband's hand. Mrs. Dixon was a resident of a Casper nursing home but had been spending part of the day at home with her husband.
Mr. Dixon was born at Salix, Iowa in 1889 and came to Wyoming in 1914 where he homesteaded west of Jay Em. He moved to Casper in 1920 and was a retired clothing salesman.
Mrs. Dixon was born Oct 10, 1889 in South Dakota and she married Mr. Dixon in 1909 near Sioux City.
Survivors of the couple include two sons, Howard of Casper and Charles of Evanston and two grandchildren.
Mr. Dixon is also survived by two sisters and a brother, and Mrs. Dixon is also survived by two sisters and four brothers.
Funeral service for the couple will be held at the Colyer Funeral home in Torrington at 11 a.m. Thursday and burial will be in Torrington's Valley View cemetery.
Note: Although the obituary says that Roy Dixon was born in 1889, the cemetery record has the date as 1/8/1891.
