Funeral Last Thursday for Mrs. Demmer

Mrs. Edith Demmer, 75, Lusk, died at a Thermopolis hospital June 27. Funeral service was held at the Peet Mortuary, July 1 at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Beauford Anderson of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiated. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Sigmund Hahn, organist, accompanied Joselyn Anderson, Judy Hahn, Judy Lange and Robert Akers as they sang "Abide With Me" and "I'm But A Stranger Here."

Casket bearers were Martin Glandt, Frank Mahnke, Leo Heins, Robert Curtis, Charles Humphrey and Ernie Hansen.

Mrs. Demmer, one of 13 children, was born to Robert and Earnestine Kettleman, August 12, 1895. She grew up on a farm near Alliance, Neb. On August 5, 1914, she married Frank E. Demmer. They were the parents of two daughters, Vera and Bertha and one son, John. She and her husband owned and operated a meat and grocery store in Nebraska and later moved to Keeline, Wyo., where they owned and operated the Keeline telephone exchange and grocery store. After selling the business in Keeline, they bought a farm west of Manville, now owned by David Bredthauer. The couple retired and moved to Lusk in 1957.

She was confirmed September 2, 1927, into the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Keeline, and remained faithful throughout her life. She was active in the Lutheran Ladies Aid of Lusk.

Her husband, five brothers, one sister and one grandson died previously.

Survivors include her daughters, Mrs. W. T. (Vera) Bredthauer, Lusk, and Mrs. Carl (Bertha) Hansen, Thermopolis, and son John of Pomeroy, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Smith of Denver and Mrs. Anna Brokaw of Auburn, Calif.; four brothers, Moritz Kettleman, Ekalaka, Mont., Garhart Kettleman, Alliance, Neb., William Kettleman, Chadron, Neb., Paul Kettleman, Torrington, Wyo.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
