The “Lighter Side” Dinner & Movie series continues on Monday, October 28 with the movie, “The Importance of Being Earnest.” Algernon discovers that his friend Ernest has created a fictional brother for whenever he needs a reason to escape. Algernon poses as the brother, resulting in ever increasing confusion – sure to be entertaining! A light meal will be served and Deane Tucker will facilitate discussion.

Beginning Tuesday, November 5 and continuing on Tuesdays and Thursdays through December 12 “Holiday Crafting” will be featured at the library from 3:35-4:45 p.m. for all ages. A variety of projects will be available for decoration as well as gift-giving. Call the library at 334-3490 to reserve your space!

Tara Cole Photography will be featured throughout the month of November, a reception will be held with the artist on Wednesday, November 6 at 5 p.m.

Tea Obreht’s latest novel is “Inland.” In the lawless drought ridden lands of Arizona Territory in 1893, two extraordinary lives collide. Nora is an unflinching frontier woman awaiting the return of the men in her life. Lurie is a former outlaw haunted by ghosts who want something from him - he finds reprieve from their longing in an unexpected relationship.

Other new fiction books are “The Russia Account” by Stephen Coonts, “The Last Good Guy” by T. Jefferson Parker, “Kingmaker” by Margaret Weis, “Tin Badges” by Lorenzo Carcaterra, “The Drifting Kid” by Will Ermine, “Tidelands” by Philippa Gregory, “Nothing Ventured” by Jeffrey Archer, “Assassin’s Revenge” by Ward Larson and “The Dark Side” by Danielle Steel. A new young adult title is “Past Perfect Life” by Elizabeth Eulberg.

“America’s Reluctant Prince: the Life of John F. Kennedy Jr.” By Steven M. Gillon is among new non-fiction along with “Deer-Resistant Design: Fence-Free Gardens That Thrive Despite the Deer” by Karen Chapman, “Healing Depression For Life” by Gregory L. Jantz.

The Lennea Lewis Slagle Children's Library has these new junior books “The Bad Guys: the Big Bad Wolf” by Aaron Blabey, “The Case of the Windy Lake” by Michael Hutchinson, and “The Battle for Perodia” by Katrina Charman. Several of the newer easy titles are “A Sea Otter to the Rescue” by Thea Feldman, “Take Your Pet to School Day” by Linda Ashman, “Puppy Truck” by Brian Pinkney and “The King of Kindergarten” by Derrick Barnes.

“Happy Halloween!” is the theme for Storyhour on October 29, 2019. Storyhour is held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday throughout the year. Call to hear a recorded story by dialing 334-3274. Dial-A-Story is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
