Last Wednesday afternoon the body of Robert A. McKee was found by Ben Johnson on Muddy Creek, near the H. B. Card ranch. Mr. McKee left the Paul Richards ranch on Walker Creek for Willow Creek to get a band of sheep. He was seen by several people while on his way. His team and horse were found grazing near Muddy Creek and later his body was found lying in a cramped position. Coroner Louger of Lusk was summoned. After examination of the body he expressed the opinion that Mr. McKee was taken with cramps, which caused his death. No marks of violence were found on his body.

Undertaker Boyd of Lusk was given charge of the body to prepare for burial, the funeral taking place Thursday afternoon. Interment was in Manville cemetery.

Mr. McKee had been a resident of Wyoming for several years and was in the employ of Walker Creek Sheep Company at the time of his death. He was a graduate of West Point and had been a captain in the regular army.

The Lusk Herald
September 25, 1913

The name of the unfortunate man who was found dead last week on Big Muddy was McKee; he was employed by the Walker Creek Sheep company and had camped out for the night. It is the opinion of the coroner that he had been seized with cramps and died in agony as the ground showed traces of a struggle. Two large rattlesnakes were found near the body in the morning by the cowboy who discovered the remains and he promptly killed the reptiles. Two marks on one hand and three on the other showed that he had been bitten by the snakes, but whether before or after death the coroner was not prepared to say.
