Anton Miklas (December 9, 1875 - September 9, 1904)

Converse County Herald
September 15, 1904

Last Thursday Peter Jensen was arrested, charged with having shot Anton Miklas, both being sheep herders in the employ of Willson Bros. Miklas died the next day, but made a dying statement that Jensen shot him without provocation. Jensen told two or three stories about the affair and he was taken to Douglas and bound over to the next term of court. A brother of the dead man arrived from Dodge, Nebraska, last Saturday to look after his brother's remains and he had them laid to rest in the Lusk cemetery.

Thanks the Lodge

To the Officers and Members of the I.O.0.F.
Lusk, Wyoming:

I, the undersigned, brother of Anton Miklas, who is now lying at rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Lusk, beg leave to extend to the members of the order my sincere gratitude to them for the care of my brother Anton in his last moments on this earth and also for the kind attention bestowed on me, an entire stranger. Although not a member of the order, I cannot express my thanks to you in a manner that I should like to, but will say that may God protect the I.0.0.F., for an order that will care for its brothers away from home, as your order cared for my brother Anton, cannot help but be progressive, and will progress until time is no more. May God in His infinite mercy bring prosperity to the Oddfellows of Lusk, Wyoming, is the prayer of the undersigned.

Wenzel Miklas
