August 30, 1913

Last Sunday night about midnight occurred the death of Miss Ruth Rexroth of Jireh. Mrs. Rexroth, who had accompanied David Brown to Omaha but a few days ago where she left him n the hospital, returned upon the receipt of a telegram to find her daughter Ruth in a dying condition. Ruth recognized her mother but there was no hope for her. The doctor stated that she had suffered a previous attack of appendicitis. The last attack was brought on by over-exertion trying to have the fall house-cleaning done and thus surprise her mother on her return. There was some heavy furniture to be moved about and this she did alone, overtaxing her strength. She died as the result of an operation.

Ruth Adella Rexroth was born at Fremont, Nebr. on the 17th day of March 1897, and died at Jireh, Wyoming, Aug. 23, 1913, aged 16 years, 5 months and 6 days.

In infancy she was baptised by the Rev. Mr. Murry, pastor of the M.E. church of Fremont, and later, at the age of ten she became a member of this church. About five years ago she came with her parents to this community, and when the Christian Church was organized, she became a member of the organization and remained in its fellowship until the time of her death.

Miss Ruth has lived her life in our midst attending the public school, affiliating with the Sunday school and the Endeavor society, and sharing in the social life of the community. She was a young woman, full of life, vigorous, energetic, and deeply enjoyed life's pleasures. Notwithstanding her apparent care-free disposition, she at times entertained serious thoughts concerning life's duties. In a letter to her aunt, she expressed a desire to give herself to the service of others, possibly in missionary work.

Her father, mother, three brother, a sister, and other relatives survive her. One sister has preceded her to the unseen land.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Daniel B. Atkinson in the College Chapel Sunday afternoon. Interment in the Jireh cemetery.
