BILLINGS, Mont. - Fern Beaird Jennewein, 89 of Billings, died Thursday, May 13, 2004 at Horizon Hospice House, where she has resided the last month. The daughter of Emery and Karen Close of Lewistown, MT, Fern was born March 14, 1915 in Miles City. She graduated from Ismay High School and from the Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing in Hot Springs, SD in 1937. Fern had worked as a pediatric nurse in Gillette, WY, and Rapid City, SD, before working as a school nurse in Rapid City. Fern married Jack Beaird; he preceded her in death in 1959. In 1968, she married Coye Jennewein; he died in 1992. She liked to knit and crochet. Fern spent winters in Arizona and summers with family before moving to Billings in 1990, where she enjoyed living at Western Towers and Prairie Towers. Survivors include her son Mike Beaird and his wife Joanne of Billings, and their children Rachel and Grant both of Frisco, TX; a stepson Ken Jennewein and his wife Judy of Yuma, AZ, their children, Mike and family of Phoenix, Mark and family of Denver, and Jodie and family of Tucson; two sisters, Phay Schoenek and her husband Roy of Lewistown, and Evaughn Elliott of Tampa, FL; two nieces, Karen Erdie of Roundup, MT and her children, Jennifer (K.C.) Hickok and family of Bridger, and Kristi (John) Williams of Seattle, and Vonnie Lee Kerrick and her husband Tom of Las Vegas and their children, Lisa Harmon and family and Julie Kerrick, two nephews, Frank Elliott, his wife Donna and family of China and Jeff Elliott, his wife Karen and family of Athens, GA. Also surviving are many extended family and very good friends in Rapid City, SD. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 19th at the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD. There will also be a service held in Lewistown, MT. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Horizon Hospice House may be sent to Big Sky Hospice, PO Box 35033, Billings, MT 59107-5033. Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
