Ronald P. Nier
Memorial services for Ronald P. Nier, age 67, of Lusk, were held April 25 at the Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home in Lusk, with officers of Lusk Elks Lodge #1797 officiating. A coffee followed at the Elks Lodge. Mr. Nier passed away April 18 at the Niobrara Health and Life Center.
Ronald Nier was born in Lusk on Nov. 8, 1939 to Donald and Inez Maxine (Parker) Nier. He joined the National Guards at an early age, then entered into the United States Navy Nov. 9, 1958.
He loved to share stories of the people and places he traveled to. Although he considered the Navy as a career, he was discharged in 1963 to come home to care for his mother, Maxine.
A kind and compassionate man, Ronnie was quick to grin and help a friend when called upon. He enjoyed his life, his friends, any music from country to Mozart and a good game of cribbage. In Lusk, Ron worked for Mangus Trucking and for Bob Vollmer and as a self-employed handyman.
Ron was recently made a Life Member of Lusk Elks Lodge #1797 and the officers of the Lodge are honored to perform the Elks Memorial Service for him.
Ron is survived by two cousins and their families; Frances Vandenbos of Fort Collins, Colo. and Berniece Rhodes of Valentine, Neb. and dear friend Anita Geike of Lusk. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family suggests memorials to Lusk Elks Lodge #1797, PO Box 897, Lusk, WY 82225.
