Raymond Leroy Renz

Services were Tuesday, May 26 for former Lusk resident Raymond L. Renz, 93, at Peet Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. John Simmons officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mr. Renz died Wednesday, May 20, 1987 in Nampa, Idaho.

He was born Dec. 3, 1893 to John and Minnie Renz near Taylor, NE. He grew up on a farm near Taylor. He attended school in Loup County, NE through the eighth grade, when he left school to work as a farmer.

On April 18, 1915, he was united in marriage with Mary Adelia Hartson. They had five children. She died Feb. 13, 1943.

The struggle in farming led the family to Lusk in 1935, where he began working as a carpenter. He followed that trade the rest of his life.

In 1944, Mr. Renz and his youngest daughter moved to Nampa, ID. On June 22, 1948, he married the former Pearl Gladson of Lusk, who died March 11, 1965.

After the move to Nampa, Mr. Renz traveled frequently through the Rocky Mountain region, working as a carpenter.

Mr. Renz was preceded in death by both his wives, one son, Wayne Woodrow Renz on Oct. 20, 1983, two brothers, Frederick and Frank, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He is remembered as a story teller with a sharp wit and a keen eye for detail.

Survivors include four children, Fred Clinton Renz of Marsing, ID, Clifford Leroy Renz of Reliance, Helen Maxine Immesoete of Torrington and Shirley Valeta Reich of Eagle, ID; one stepson, Lynard Gladson; one brother, Pearl Renz; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
