Geneva L. Murphy

Funeral service for Geneva L. Murphy, age 81, was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 1997, at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with Rev. Mark Lohr officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery. Mrs. Murphy died Tuesday, August 26, 1997 at the Poplar Living Center in Casper. She was born November 1, 1915, on the homestead of her grandparents south of Chadron, Nebraska, the daughter of Lee S. and Florence (Wright) of Lost Springs. She attended grade school at Eddy's, Lost Springs and Shawnee. She graduated from Manville High School.

Geneva married Francis Scheenan in November of 1935, and they resided in Manville. Mr. Scheenan died in 1949. She later married Leo Murphy in October of 1951 and they moved to Edgerton and lived there until Leo's death in May of 1986. Between Leo and Geneva they raised 10 boys.

Geneva was an avid card player; she also loved to make quilts. She also enjoyed camping, cooking, dancing and eating.

Geneva was preceded in death by her father, two husbands, two sisters, two sons, and four grandchildren.

She is survived by her mother, Florence Murphy of Crawford, Nebraska; two sisters, Jeannette Pebbles of Casper and Ilene Frye of Lusk; two brothers, Wilber Wright of Orin Junction and George Wright of Greybull; eight sons, Merlin, Dean, Butch, Bob and Tony of Casper, Carl and Raymond of Douglas and Don of Rock Springs; two aunts, two sisters-in-law, 41 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Bader Funeral Home and again Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

For those who wish, memorials to Hospice of Casper or the Alzhiemer Foundation in care of Ilene Frye, P.O. Box 24, Lusk, Wyoming 82225, will be appreciated by the family.

Bader Funeral Home of Lusk was in charge of arrangements.
