Lt. Harley L. Mark

Funeral services for Lt. Harley L. Mark, 48, were held Friday, Sept. 10, 1993, at the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Gary Flom officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery with graveside military rites by the Travis Snow Post #5 of the American Legion and the Wyoming National Guard.

Memorial gifts to the Torrington Police Department D.A.R.E. program would be appreciated by the family.

Mark died as a result to injuries sustained in a vehicular accident in the line of duty Sept. 7, 1993.

He was born March 20, 1945, in Lusk, the son of Ralph and Agnes (Boruff) Mark. He graduated from Torrington High School in 1963 and joined the U.S. Navy, serving from September 1963 to September 1967.

He and JoAnne Stovall were married July 11, 1964, in Van Nuys, Calif., and they moved to Torrington in September 1967.

He worked for the Wyoming Highway Department and then sold vacuum cleaners for 12 years. He worked for the Goshen County Sheriffs Department for a number of years. In 1979 he went to work for the Torrington Police Department.

He was a member of the Travis Snow Post #5 of the American Legion, the Criminal Justice Club at Eastern Wyoming College and the Moose, all in Torrington.

He is survived by wife, JoAnne, Torrington; three daughters, Wendy Kilmer, Torrington; Tammy and husband, Donny Cearns, Torrington; and Dawn and husband, Robert Anderson, El Paso, Texas; six grandchildren, Dustan Mark and Heather Kilmer, Michael, Matthew and Tyler Cearns and Shelby Anderson; six brothers, James Skelcher, Simi, Calif.; Jack Skelcher, North Platte, Neb.; Dan Skelcher, Pine Grove, Calif.; Freeman Mark, Kuna, Ida.; Pete Mark, Torrington; Tom Mark, Meridian, Ida,; two sisters, Helen Floyd, Spokane, Wash.; Amy Meredith, Caldwell, Ida. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and one brother.
