Dorothy Marie Kleiber

Memorial services for Dorothy Marie Kleiber were held at the United Presbyterian Church in Guernsey, April 14, 2003, with Reverend Bob Frye officiating. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment was held at Highland Cemetery in Casper, Wyo.

Dorothy Kleiber died April 8, 2003, at Platte County Nursing Home.

Dorothy Marie (Deetjen) Kleiber was born April 27, 1925, in Lusk, to John Henry and Emily (Sullivan) Deetjen.

She graduated from Lusk High School.

On July 9, 1943, she married Edwin Kleiber in Lusk. Dorothy and Edwin moved around Wyoming as he worked for True Oil. They moved to Guernsey in 1968.

Dorothy was a stay-at-home mom until she became the head cook at the Guernsey Senior Center. She later managed the Oregon Trail Cafe until the death of her husband Edwin, in 1981.

She purchased the Oregon Trail Lanes bowling alley and sold it several years later. She worked at the Guernsey Municipal Airport through the Green Thumb program and thoroughly enjoyed the many people she met during this employment. She was an active member of the Guernsey VFW Auxiliary 4471. She was also active in the Old Timers Association and chairman of the Fourth of July Parade for many years. She was always eager to help others in need. Dorothy knew no strangers and enjoyed her daily visits at the Lunch Box. She was an avid bingo player and looked forward to her Sunday afternoon at the VFW.

She is survived by four daughters, Hettie Partridge of Petaluma, Calif., Patti Barber and husband Jerry of Casper, Wyo., Lindi Otero and husband Tom of Guernsey, and Edie Harris and husband Dale (Disco) of Guernsey; one sister, Leona Dotson of Texoma, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Her husband, parents, one sister, and four brothers preceded her in death.
