Mrs. Newton Kelly Dies

Funeral service was being held Wednesday at 2:00 for Mrs. Newton (Elisabeth) Kelly, 70, who died Monday at Goshen County Memorial Hospital in Torrington following a long illness.

The Rev. Fred Bolinger was conducting the service with Mrs. Edna DeCastro as organist. Mark Lohr was singing "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art."

Pallbearers were Walter Schnorenberg, Richard Schnorenberg, Otto Vondra, A. F. DeCastro, Fred Sheaman and Archie Lauer. Burial was to be in the Lusk Cemetery.

Elisabeth Carolyn McMahan was born July 10, 1904, at Meeker, Colo., to Elisabeth Eckle and John Wallace McMahan. The family moved from Meeker when she was two years old to Grand Junction, Colo., where she attended school, graduating from high school in 1925. She then attended Western State College at Gunnison, Colo.

She was married to Frederick Charles Finnicum in June, 1926. They were the parents of two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Logan and Mrs. Betty Schnorenberg. Mr. Finnicum died August 2, 1935. She was married to Newton Edgar Kelly December 8, 1938, in Denver.

For many years Mrs. Kelly was active in the Rebekah Lodge in Lance Creek where she held the office of Noble Grand. She was president of the Lance Creek Extension Club, a Girl Scout and 4-H leader and Sunday School teacher. Survivors include her husband and two daughters Mrs. Jessie Logan of Denver and Mrs. Betty Schnorenberg of Rawlins; her mother Mrs. Elisabeth Hoback of Grand Junction, Colo.; two brothers Bart McMahan, Clearfield, Utah, and John McMahan, Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters Louise Shelton, Clearfield, Utah, Alice Schmidt, Grand Junction, Colo., and Julia Whitford, Denver; four grandchildren Steve and Kelly Schnorenberg, Rawlins and Barbara and Juna Logan, Denver, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Note: Elizabeth is buried next to her husband in the Valley View Cemetery, Torrington, WY.
