Alfred G. Kaufman Jr.

Funeral services for Alfred G. Kaufman Jr., age 64, were held Friday, March 30, 1990, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Douglas, Wyo., with Irwin "Jug" Brandjord of the Christ Episcopal Church in Glenrock officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery. He died Tuesday, March 27, 1990, at the Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas.

Kaufman was born May 7, 1925, in Alhambra, Ill., the son of Alfred and Frieda (Landwehmeier) Kaufman Sr. He was reared on the family farm near Alhambra, graduating from high school there. He graduated from the University of Illinois, then attended the University of Wyoming Law School, graduating in 1957. He moved to Gillette, and then became assistant attorney general in Cheyenne. In the early 1960s, he located in Douglas to practice law. In the early 1970s he moved to Michigan to work for the United States Government in the Organized Crime Strike Force Division. In 1976, he returned to Douglas and worked both in Douglas and Lusk with his law practice. He was married to the former Mary McNeill. He had resided in Douglas until the time of his death.

He was a member of the Ashlar Masonic Lodge No. 10 A.F. & A.M. and the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and sporting events, especially basketball. He is survived by his wife Mary of Douglas; his mother Frieda Kaufman of Alhambra, Ill.; three sons, Trent Kaufman of Douglas, Keith Kaufman of Corvallis, Ore., and Al Kaufman of Santa Monica, Calif.; also one brother Marvin Kaufman of Alhambra.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant daughter.

Serving as pallbearers were Dean Gulley, Leonard Summers, John Scott, Trent Kaufman, Keith Kaufman and Al Kaufman. Honorary pallbearers were John Lambert, Jack Hanlin, Don Carr, Jim Young, and all of his friends in Lusk, Douglas, and surrounding areas.

A memorial to the American Heart Association would be equally appreciated by the family.

The Converse Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
