May M. Kant

Mrs. May Marzette Kant, aged 92 years, resident of Torrington since 1964, died at Goshen County Memorial Nursing Home in Torrington Monday, April 16th.

Services were conducted at the Sutley Funeral chapel in Torrington Wednesday, April 18 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Vern Ekerholm of the First Baptist Church officiating. Entombment was at the Riverside Abbey in Portland, Ore.

Memorials may be directed to the Heart Research Foundation.

May M. Kant was born Feb. 29, 1892 in Bremen, Ind., the daughter of Henry G. and Hattie May Ladd Hess. She resided for a time at Miami, Fla. and was raised and educated near Niles, Mich. She moved to Wyoming in 1908 and resided near Jireh where she received part of her education.

She later moved to Oregon for six years and to the Lance Creek area for 13 years before moving to Torrington in 1964.

She was a member of the Baptist Church of Springfield, Ore., and also a 50-year member of the Manville Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Jesse "Ethel" York of Lance Creek, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, two brothers and two sisters.

Arrangements were by the Sutley Funeral Chapel of Torrington.

Mother of Ethel York dies

May Smith Kant, mother of Mrs. Jesse (Ethel) York died in Torrington early Monday morning. She was 93 years old. Mrs. Kant had been a resident of the rest home in Torrington since suffering a stroke earlier this year. She is survived by granddaughters, Mrs. Rod (Carol) Geisinger of Hat Creek and Mrs. Bob (Nancy) Buraugh of Cheyenne and several great grandchildren including Mrs. Jeff (Traci) Wasserburger and Mrs. Loren (Robyn) Heth of this area. Deepest sympathy is extended to her loved ones.
