The Lusk Herald
November 22, 2017

Janet E. Bruegger of Keeline, age 74, entered fully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on November 13, 2017 at Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas, WY.

Services were held at Niobrara County Fairgrounds in Lusk on Monday, November 20th at 2:00 P.M. with Chan Bayne officiating.

Janet was born to James L. and Harriet Thompson in Douglas, WY. April 1, 1943. She grew up on the family ranch with sister Waive and loving parents north of Lance Creek, Wyo., attending grade school at the Cow Creek School and high school at Lusk’s Niobrara County High School. She also attended the University of Wyoming for one semester.

February 10, 1962, she married Fred Bruegger Jr. They lived their 45 years of marriage on the farm-ranch west of Lusk. To this union were born sons Shannon, Shawn, Tommy and Travis. She was devoted to her family and the ranch where she had an active part.

She grew up riding by her father’s side working cattle and sheep. This love of riding and working livestock was never ending. She roped, ran barrels and poles during her high school years. Jan enjoyed showing lambs and beef in 4-H. She especially enjoyed playing the part of Kate in the Rawhide Pageant with her father playing Clyde Picket. She is a past Honored Queen of Job’s Daughters and past President of PEO. She also enjoyed working and helping her sons and their families. She enjoyed all her grandchildren, their sports, and riding horseback with her sister and the granddaughters. She read a lot, played a lot of pitch, and joking around was always fun. Her friends were important to her. Jan will miss her caring and loving friends she had at the Douglas Care Center.

She is survived by her sister Waive (Jim), sons Shannon (Teri) of Lance Creek, Shawn (Kim) of Keeline, Travis (Lisa) of Lusk, and daughter-in-law Traci of Lusk; grandchildren Bradyn (Britainy), Jessica, Traylin, Kyle, Kassidy, Kayce, Thompson, Hailey, Ryan and Cory.
