Doris Johnson, 61, passed away October 26, 2016 in Chadron, Nebraska. Her funeral services will be held held Monday October 31, 2016,2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Lusk, Wyoming, followed by interment at Dellview Cemetery in Manville, Wyoming.

Mrs. Johnson was born on January 9th, 1955 in Lusk, Wyoming to Leo William DeSersa and Selma May (Evenson) DeSersa. She attended elementary school and high school in Lusk, graduating in 1973. Later in life she earned her associates degree. The majority of her working career was in caregiving and journalism. On April 28, 2001, she married the love of her life, Pee Wee Johnson.

Doris's passion was learning and sharing any aspect of Niobrara County history. She wrote several books and articles about the people and places in Niobrara County's past. Doris was best known for putting everyone else's need before her own.

She is survived by husband Pee Wee Johnson of Manville, Wyoming; sons Justin Collins of Lusk, Wyoming, Travis Collins of Kemmerer, Wyoming, and Lance Collins of Kemmerer, Wyoming; sisters Nina Achenback of Sheridan, Wyoming, Arlene Smith of Worland, Wyoming, Kathy Brown of Big Springs, Nebraska, Elizabeth Ogle of Brush, Colorado, Evelyn Gerber of Worland, Wyoming, and Carolyn Kraft of Lusk, Wyoming; and grandchildren, Travis, Tesla, Aaliya, Alexa, Brody, and Weston. She is also survived by several other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Delores Felzien, and brothers Selmer “Sonny” DeSersa and Eugene Rogina. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
