Lyola Dorrene Brown, 84, of Cody, WY passed away on May 24, 2014, at Spirit Mountain Hospice House.

Lyola was born in Lusk, WY, to D.B. and Marie Cox on July 5, 1929. She went to high school at Manville High School and graduated in 1947. She married the love of her life, Robert A. Brown, on September 5, 1948, and after a few years in Lance Creek, then Oregon Basin, they settled in Cody in 1960. Lyola enjoyed music, playing the accordion, old movies, crime dramas, reading, word games, and spending time with her family.

Lyola was preceded in death by her parents, D.B. and Marie Cox, and her husband, Robert A. Brown.

Lyola is survived by her daughters Lynette (Dean) Hazlitt of Cody, and Dorrene Brown Butterfield (Chuck Butterfield) of Alpine; her granddaughter Meghan Hazlitt (Justin "Gonzo" Campbell) of Hanahan, SC; her grandson Austin (Allison) Butterfield of Lincoln, NE; and her great-grandson Torsten Butterfield of Lincoln, NE.

A private graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Riverside Cemetery, with the Reverend Pat Montgomery officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601, or the Spirit Mountain Hospice House, 1021 9th Street, Cody, WY 82414

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Spirit Mountain Hospice House for their support in her final days.
