Memorial services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Casper, Wyoming.

Mr. James died at his home on Oct. 31, 1997.

He was born Nov. 1, 1934 to Lowell and LaVeda (Goatley) James in Kanarado, Kansas.

He moved to Wyoming in 1948. He served in the Army in Germany in 1957 and 58. He graduated from Torrington, Wyo. high school in 1952. He married Beverly Scott on August 28, 1987 in Brush, Colo.

He played on softball and basketball teams for Lusk and Newcastle in the late 50's and early 60's. He also pitched softball, He ranched in Newcastle and Nebraska. He served as president of the (NRCA) Northwest Ranch Cowboys Association in 1963-64. He was in steer wrestling, and team roping, finishing in the top five several years.

He is survived by his wife Beverly of the family home, and two sons, Tracy James of Terry, Montana, Michael Waite of Casper; two daughters, Kelly Daniels of Gillette, Wyo., and Sherri Ficco of Brush, Colo.; two brothers, Maurice "Lefty" James and Melvyn James, both of Capser; one sister, Marcene Ray of Fallon, Nevada, and eight grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Maxine Kuns and Connie Tucker, and one son, Michael "Punk" James.

Military honors were by United Veterans Council.
