Mary Ann Hoblit, 74, Dies Friday

Mrs. Mary Ann Hoblit, 74, died at Bassett, Neb., on Friday, Dec. 3, after being taken there several weeks ago in the hope that the lower altitude would improve a serious heart condition.

The remains were accompanied back to Lusk by her son, Graydon Hoblit, and funeral services were conducted from the Peet Chapel on Monday, Dec. 6, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Lawrence P. Juell officiating.

Mrs. Edna DeCastro, Mrs. Gladys Marvin and Miss Neoma Taylor sang "We Are Going Down the Valley" and "In the Garden," accompanied by Mrs. J.P. Watson on the Chapel organ.

Interment was made in the Lusk Cemetery, with life-long friends conveying the remains to the last resting place. They were Sharon Chamberlain, George Sylvester, Dick Spinney, Earl Hales, C. C. Morehouse and Rulo Roberts.

Mary Ann Wiley was born in York County, Nebraska, on January 12, 1874, the daughter of James and Adeline Wiley. In her early childhood her family moved to Keya Paha County, Nebraska, and she lived there until coming to Wyoming in 1938.

On June 3, 1896, she was married to Melvin Hoblit at Springview, Neb., and they are the parents of seven children, all of whom survive.

The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary here on June 3, 1946.

Survivors, besides her husband, include her three daughters, Mrs. Charles Kabler of Casper Mrs. Don Hollenbeck, Burton, Neb., and Mrs. James Smith, Keeline, Wyo., and four sons, Morton Hoblit, of Martin, So. Dak.; Gordon Hoblit, in the Merchant Marines, James and Graydon Hoblit of Lusk. Others who survive her are thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Jimmie Hollon of Lusk, and many nieces and nephews.
