Kathleen Fay Krein Wedemeyer

Kathleen Fay Krein Wedemeyer was born Jan. 21, 1958 to Gust and Alma Krein in Bismarck, ND. At the age of five her family moved to Lusk where she made her home. During this time in Lusk Kathy completed schooling. She met her high school sweetheart, Steve Wedemeyer in January of 1975 and they were married on Aug. 6, 1977. To this union were born two children.

Kathy held several jobs in Lusk, including the Fireside Inn, where she was a cook; at Decker's Food Center where she was Meat Manager; and Wyoming Women's Center where she was employed as the Dietary Manager at the time of her death. In August of 2007 Kathy was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She fought a brave battle against the disease up until the time of her death on June 10, 2010.

Kathy had many interests in life. She loved to travel, having seen 46 of the states and Spain. She also loved sports, her favorite being the Atlanta Braves. She was active in the local softball team and bowling team in which she won many trophies. She also loved her family, being present at most of her nieces' or nephews' sporting events, graduations, concerts, and always being involved in planning of the family gathering.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gust and Alma Krein; three brothers, Lester, Larry, and Darvin Krein; a niece, Rhonda Owren, and a nephew, Jeffie Brown.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 33 years, Steve Wedemeyer, of Lusk; two children: Jason Wedemeyer of Somersworth, NH and Jody Goodwin (Jason) of Lusk; two grandchildren, the loves of her life, Bryce Wyatt and Kayden James of Lusk; four sisters: Leola (Nick) Morrell of Torrington, Lila Owren of Cheyenne, Wanda Brown and Karen Jassman of Lusk; four brothers: Gary (Judy) of Colorado Springs, CO, Darold (Patty) of Pierre, SD, Dwight (Shelly) and Johnny of Lusk; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Bryce and Kayden scholarship fund in care of Lusk State Bank, PO Box 1400, Lusk, WY 82225.

Funeral services were held Tue., June 15, 2010, at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds Auditorium with Pastor Tom Strock of the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Pier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
