Nellie Brewer, Lusk Resident 30 Years, Dies

Nellie Brewer, 83, formerly of Lusk, died May 2 at Ainsworth, Neb., following a lingering illness. Funeral services were conducted from the Ainsworth Mortuary this Wednesday afternoon with burial in the Stuart, Neb. cemetery.

Nellie Varinna Johnson was born January 19, 1888, at Stuart, Neb., to Varinna Ellen Radcliff Johnson and Richmond Robinson Johnson, being the 5th of 12 children. She spent her early years in Nebraska and married Frank Charles Brewer, January 15, 1911, at Stuart. They were the parents of two children, Rinnie Bell and Guy Charles. The family resided in Manville for a number of years where Mr. Brewer pumped water for the town, and she ran a cafe. A few years after her husband's death in 1939, Mrs. Brewer moved to Lusk where she made her home until in September of 1969 when she left to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Cal (Rinnie) Dillon of Ainsworth. After suffering a stroke when she was entered in a nursing home, and was hospitalized several weeks before her death.

Her husband, eight brothers, one sister, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild died previously.

Survivors include Mrs. Dillon; son Guy of Torrington; sisters, Mrs. Roy Eaton, Casper, and Mrs. Serina Slaymaker, Ainsworth; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
