Jamesetta (Bennett) Hale

Jamesetta Hale, 91, died in the Spencer Hospital Sunday morning of a heart condition. She had been a patient at the hospital for two months.

Funeral services were held at the Peet Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Frank Bozart officiating. Mrs. Emerson Bonner and Mrs. A. D. DeCastro sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden". Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist. Active pallbearers were C. E. Marvin, Don C. Taylor, Jimmy Roberts, Art Keller, E. L. McKnight and Charles Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers were : Carl Lund, George Gibson, Al Knudsen, Menno Kaan, Charlie Hitshew and Henry Johnson.

Burial was in the Lusk cemetery.

Jamesetta, youngest daughter of John H. and Caroline Bray Bennett, was born November 25, 1868 at Keyport, N.J. She married Harry Hale and they were the parents of one son, Harry Thorton. Mr. Hale was a drummer in the Federal Army during the Civil War. Later the family moved to Mexico where Mr. Hale engineered the building of a railroad for the Mexican government. The son, Carl, died in Mexico when he was 11. Mr. Hale went to New Hampshire in July 1912 on business in connection with the railroad and while there he died. Mrs. Hale continued to live in Mexico until all her property was confiscated during an uprising and she escaped. She lived in Tucson, Ariz. and Denver before coming to Lusk in 1918 during the boom. She entered into the real estate and insurance business with the late W. J. Tooley which was continued until Mr. Tooley's death in 1946.

Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Carmen Lemon of Tucson. A grand nephew, Matt Lemon of Tucson came to attend the funeral services.
