Benjamin R. Hebner, Sr.
Benjamin Reuben Hebner, Sr., of Happy Hollow, Wheelersburg, Ohio, was born Feb. 10, 1923 to Frederick W. and Catherine Beck Hebner of Harrison. He died Monday, Feb. 13 in Wheelersburg.
He graduated from Sioux County High School in Harrison in 1940, as did all his brothers and sisters before him. He spent his youth at the Hebner homestead ranch home, coming back whenever he could to visit relatives and friends.
In recent years, he spent several weeks each fall at the ranch with his wife.
A Harrison native, he was a World War II Army veteran, a member of Wait's Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge at Troutwood and James Dickey American Legion. He was a retired instrument repairman for Empire-Detroit Steel Corporation.
Survivors include his wife Jeanette Roney Hebner; two sons, Benjamin R. Hebner, Jr. of Portsmouth, Ohio and James D. of Pomeroy; two daughters, Danna Warman of Wahiawa, Hawaii and Jennifer Hebner Bennett of San Clemente, Calif.; a brother, Daniel of Harrison, Nebr.; four sisters, Margaret Lewis of Torrington, Rose Lewis of Van Tassell, Louise Snook of Chadron, Nebr. and Kathrine Knight of Sunnymead, Calif. and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers William and David.
Services in Ohio were at the Don Wolfe Funeral Home in Sciotoville, with Rev. William Ottney officiating, Wednesday, Feb. 15. Graveside services at the Harrison cemetery were Saturday, Feb. 18 with the Rev. Jeff Thurman officiating. Interment was at the Harrison Cemetery, as he wished to be buried in the land he loved best.
Pallbearers at Harrison were Kenneth Watson, Melvin Grote, Charles Mumby, Alvin Publow, Dale DeHaven and Clarence Schnurr.
