Rev. Josiah Kern (March 31, 1827 - November 7, 1903)

Converse County Herald
November 12, 1903

Josiah Kern was born March 31, 1827, near Poland, Columbia county, Ohio, and died November 7, 1903, at Manville, Wyoming, of diabetes, from which he had been a sufferer for over four years.

He was a man of fine education, having taken a thorough classical course at Alleghany College, Meadville, Pa. He was engaged in educational and religious work the most of his life and was for 30 years a member of the Central Illinois conference of the M. E. Church. He was a man of high character, true and loyal to his friends and charitable toward all. He was of a cheerful and optimistic disposition and was patient and uncomplaining in sickness. He had a large circle of friends and acquaintances in the east whose messages of love and sympathy cheered him during his illness. He leaves a wife, one son and two daughters who will ever revere and honor his memory. His body was laid to rest on Sunday, November 8th, the services being conducted by Rev. E. J. Robinson, pastor of the Methodist church of Casper, assisted by Rev. Cleveland of Lusk. Appropriate music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Howard and others.
