Mel Hoblit Dies Early Wednesday

Mel Hoblit died about 5:00 a.m. Wednesday in Lusk. He had recently returned here after spending some time with his daughter, Mrs. James Smith, at their ranch near Keeline.

The deceased is the father of James and Graydon Hoblit of Lusk and Mrs. James Smith of Keeline.

No funerai arrangements have been made as The Herald goes to press.

Services Held Fri. For Mel Hoblit

Melvin Hoblit, 78, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, after being in ill health for some time, due to the infirmities of his age.

Mr. Hoblit came to Lusk in 1938 from Brocksburg, Nebr., and was employed at the C & H Refinery with his son, James Hoblit.

He was born at Winterset, Iowa, November 28, 1870, and on June 3, 1896, was married to May Wiley. They became the parents of seven children, all of whom survive. His wife preceded him in death about a year.

Funeral services were held from the Peet Chapel on Friday afternoon by Rev. Lawrence P. Juell. A quartet composed of Mrs. Emerson Bonner, Mrs. A.F. DeCastro, Rex Yocum and Donley Unruh, sang "The Old Rugged Cross," "Lords Prayer" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Mrs. J. P. Watson was the accompanist.

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery, with Sharon Chamberlain. George Sylvester, Dick Spinney, Earl Hale, Rulo Roberts and Nig Patton acting as casket bearers.

Survivors are his children, Mrs. Chas. Kabler of Casper, Mrs. Don Hollenbeck, Burton, Nebr.; Robert Hoblit, Arabia; Mrs. James Smith of Keeline, James and Graydon Hoblit of Lusk. Mrs. Clifford Hollon of Lusk is a granddaughter and small Jimmy Hollon is a great grandson. He is also survived by three brothers and one sister and 13 grandchildren.
