William Roy Harnagel
Memorial services for William "Bill" Roy Harnagel were held February 19, 1988 at the First Presbyterian Church in Bakersfield, CA. He died February 16, 1988.
Harnagel was born March 10, 1904 in Franklin, IA, the son of O.P.(former county clerk for Niobrara County) and Minnie Harnagel. His family moved to Lusk when he was a young boy and he received his education in Lusk.
He worked for Lusk Motor before joining J.M. Huber Corp. In 1928 he was sent to Borger, TX by Huber to establish a J.M. Huber Carbon Black Plant. In 1939 he became interested in aviation and spent over 15 years as a flight instructor and commercial pilot. In the late 50's he became assodated with Larkin Packer Company and was relocated in Bakersfield, CA in 1967.
Harnagel was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bakersfield.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, the former Mary Martha Goulding.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; one daughter, Billye June Messenger of Bakersfield; one granddaughter, Mary Lynn Henderson of Santa Clara, CA; one grandson, William Arthur Messenger of Rio Vista, CA, one great-granddaughter, Amanda Michele Henderson and one sister, Velma Paula Giinpher of Kent WA.
