Services for Stanley G. Wasson are at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 2 at the Niobrara County High School auditorium, Rev. Mark Lohr officiating. Burial in Lusk Cemetery.

He died November 30 at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital in Lusk following a long illness.

He was born October 14, 1927 in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Guy and Marion C. Wasson. He attended elementary school in Omaha, Nebr. and high school at East High in Denver, Colo. He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II before finishing high school and received his diploma while in the Navy in 1945. Following his honorable discharge, he attended Denver University majoring in marketing and business.

In 1950, Stan joined his dad at Wasson Chevrolet, Inc. in Lusk. On August 19, 1952, he married Shirley M. Malmborg.

In 1955 Stan assumed the Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Cadillac dealership from his father and partner, Mr. "Dade" Boyd. In August 1998 he closed the dealership and retired.

He was a member of the Wieten-Dupes Post #4, B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1797. He was on the Hospital Board when the existing nursing home was built.

He was a shareholder and director of the Lusk State Bank from 1970-1995 when the bank was sold. Stan was a lifetime member of the Niobrara Country Club Hall of Fame.

He enjoyed playing golf, visiting with friends and was an avid sports fan.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, three sons, Brad of Lusk, Mike and Kirk of Gillette, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son and granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Niobrara County District Hospital.

Bader Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
