Last Rites Held For Seth Tipton
Funeral service for Seth William Tipton was held last Thursday afternoon at Memorial United Methodist Church in Harrison, and burial was in the Harrison Cemetery. Mr. Tipton, 82, had died July 25 at the Crawford Community Hospital.
The Rev. Larry Shrout officiated at the funeral. Mrs. Ruth Hall, organist, accompanied Mrs. John Skavdahl and Miss Sue Coffee as they sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden." Pall bearers were Russell From, Art From, Ronald Grote, George Schaefer, Ernest Pullen and Duke Rabe.
Here to attend the service were Mrs. Frank Hall, Mrs. Don Harding and Susan, Dale Howard and Ted Tipton all of Lander, Wyo., and Mrs. and Mrs. Seth Howard of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mr. Tipton, son of Newman L. and Martha C. Tipton, was born November 11, 1889, in Seward County, Neb. He came to Harrison in 1893 with his parents. During his life he homesteaded in Wyoming, spent some time in Montana and lived on his father's ranch near Harrison.
He married Lulu Mae Rogers on October 30, 1921, at Harrison, and a son and a daughter were born.
He is survived by his wife Lulu; one brother, Harold C. (Ted) Tipton of Harrison; one sister, Grace E. Hall of Lander, Wyo.; two nephews, Seth Howard of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Dale Howard of Lander; four nieces, Ruth Harding of Lander; Donna Leeling of East St. Louis, Ill.; Patsy Rodgers of Oregon; and Joy Dean Ruch of Dubuque, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two children, and one brother, Vernon L. Tipton.
Mr. Tipton served in the United States Army during World War I, spending one year in New Mexico and one year in Europe. He was a member of the local V.F.W. Post.
