Billy Spaugh, 89, pioneer resident of Manville and brother of the late Addison Spaugh, died at his home in North Hollywood, Calif., on August 27.

The body was brought here by his associate and long time friend, Dr. Leroy Lee, and graveside services were held at the Manville Cemetery Friday. The Rev. James Davis of the Lusk Congregational Church officiated. Pallbearers were men who had known him during his earlier years here; Bus Gautschi, Orville Dryer, A. B. DeCastro, Lyle Fullerton, Everett Brooks and C. E. Marvin.

William Plum Spaugh reached the age of 89 on August 15. He was born at Nickerson, Kans. and came to this area before the turn of the century, and became active in the oil development of the Lance Creek area.

He was mayor of Manville for some 20 years, but left there for California in the early twenties. However he and Dr. Lee have been back here numerous times through the years in the interest of oil properties.

His only survivor is his wife Alice at 3953, Vineland Ave. North Hollywood.
