Funeral services for Robert L. Serres were held at St. Leo's Catholic Church on April 29; burial was at the Catholic Cemetery in Harrison, Neb.

Bob died April 26, 1999 at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 13, 1929, to E.J. "Jim" and Leona (Wisdom) Serres in Sioux County, Neb. He was raised at the family ranch north of Harrison, Neb.

His mother passed away when Bob was two years old. His father later married Matilda "Tillie" Wasserburger. Bob was diagnosed as a diabetic as a young child; he was given excellent care by his stepmother.

Bob attended school in Harrison and worked at the family ranch until 1963.

He married Loretta Quintard on June 1, 1963. They moved to the Sandhills of Nebraska where he was employed until 1973, when they moved to Lusk. Bob worked at several jobs in Lusk until complications of diabetes prohibited him from work. Bob became a double amputee, but despite his medical condition, he was always cheerful and glad to see people.

He is survived by his wife; son Corey Serres and his wife Shelly of Torrington; three daughters, Renee Serres, Carol Dimett and Sandra, all of Lusk; two grandsons Broc and Brodey of Torrington; two granddaughters Lindsey and Sarah of Lusk; sisters Lavonne Pilgrim of Gillette; Betty Howland and Cindy Serres of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and sister-in-law Jan Serres of Buffalo; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother Tillie; two infant sons; and brothers Jim and Kenneth Serres.

A memorial has been established.

Bader Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
