Ernest Schuricht Dies Saturday at Veteran Hospital
Ernest C. Schuricht, 69, a resident of Niobrara County for 42 years, died in the Veterans Hospital in Cheyenne Saturday after a long illness.
Funeral services are being held at 2:00 p.m. today at the Peet Chapel with the Rev. Frank Bozart in charge. Mrs. Lyle Eddy will sing the "Lord's Prayer," with Mrs. J. P. Watson as organist. Pallbearers are T.L. Cantwell, Al Knudsen, Fred Hansen, Marion Rasmussen, Enos Lee and C.B. Dawson. Military rites will be conducted by members of the Lance Creek and Lusk VFW posts. Burial will be in the Manville cemetery.
Ernest Criss Schuricht, son of John and Mathilda Schuricht, was born in St. Paul, Ill., May 1, 1891. The family moved to Hoxie, Kan., where he attended school and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the First World War serving in the St. Mehiel sector in France.
Receiving a discharge in 1919 he came to Wyoming and homesteaded in the Lance Creek area. He married Faye Purtle in 1930. Mr. Schuricht was engaged in farming in the Manville vicinity for several years and worked in the Lance Creek oil field. Mrs. Schuricht died in 1947. He married Mrs. Rachael Leeling October 14, 1959. He had been confined to the Veterans Hospital since February 1.
Survivors include his wife; three brothers, John of Moorcroft, George of Hoxie, Kan., and Albert of Hill City, Kan.; a sister, Mrs. Christine Dougherty of Colby, Kan.; and eight stepchildren.
