Rosetta Lewis Roland

Private family memorial services will be held at a later date for Rosetta Lewis Roland, age 77, who died on March 18, 2004 at the Cheyenne Health Care Center. Cremation has taken place. Those who wish may direct memorial contributions to the Cheyenne Health Care Center c/o Teresa Poage at 214 Cody St. Cheyenne, WY 82006.

Rosetta was born on September 2, 1926 in rural Sioux County, Nebraska, the daughter of Frank and Bernice (Leeling) Grimm. She grew up on the family ranch between Crawford and Harrison. She received her education and graduated from Sioux County High School with the class of 1945.

She then taught at a rural school near Torrington, Wyoming for one year. She married Lawrence Kenneth Lewis on December 1, 1946 at Cheyenne, Wyoming. The couple owned and operated the Gateway Service Station and Cafe for many years in Harrison, Nebraska where they raised their family. During that time, Rosetta also worked at the Sioux County Clerk's office for several years.

In 1970 the couple moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska where Rosetta was employed as a bookkeeper for the JC Penney Store. She and Mr. Lewis were divorced in 1971. She married Merle W. Roland on October 18, 1974 in Littleton, Colorado. The couple operated a ranch north of Scottsbluff, Nebraska until they divorced and Rosetta moved to Mesa, Arizona where she worked as a seamstress as well as doing various other jobs. She retired and moved to Douglas, Wyoming in 2001 and then later moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 2003.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Bob Thon of Winnemucca, Nevada; and Teresa and Vernon Poage of Cheyenne, Wyoming; a brother, Frank Grimm of Chadron, Nebraska; a sister Melvina Plum of Floresville, Texas; two granddaughters, Traci Jassman and Leah Poage Gremm and her husband Eric; three grandsons, Troy Jassman, Robert Campbell and Sheldon Poage; a great-granddaughter Jayden Grimm; and a very special friend, Dick Patterson of Cheyenne, Wyoming.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Gladys DeBock and Verdie O'Dell; and a brother Donald Grimm.
