Maxine Riley Dies in Nevada

Funeral service was held for Mrs. Maxine Riley, a former Niobrara resident, at the Peet Chapel Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Frank Blish conducting the service. Mrs. Riley died April 25, in North Las Vegas, Nev.

Mrs. J. P. Watson, organist, accompanied Mark Lohr as he sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond The Sunset."

Casket bearers were Jerry Owens, Pete Cooper, Harold Spear, Tom Bancroft, Dave Bancroft, and Walter Schnorenberg, Jr. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Maxine Bancroft was born August 14, 1924, at Lusk the daughter of Robert L. and Bertha Deuel Bancroft. She attended school at Van Tassell and was one of five members of the last class to graduate from Van Tassell High School in 1942.

She worked at the O. P. A. office in Lusk until her marriage to Kenneth Riley on Feb. 6, 1946. They moved to Missouri for a few months and then returned to Lusk. In the early 60's they moved to Casper. Jan. 1964 they moved to Las Vegas where she worked in a lady's clothing store until three years ago.

Her parents and one sister died previously.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth; one son Larry, Mesa, Ariz., one daughter, Jean (Mrs. Harold Spear) Newark, Calif.; one sister Mrs. Donna Owens, Casper; one brother Charles Bancroft, Big Piney; one granddaughter Carol Riley and two grandsons, Todd and Ryan Spear.
