Lester Myrup, former resident dies

Former area resident Lester N. Myrup died at Kadler Hospital in Pasco, Wash., January 8. He was born June 25, 1920 at Hat Creek, the son of Chris and Millie Myrup. He attended grade school at Hat Creek and was a high school student in Lusk.

Myrup was called to active duty with the National Guard in September of 1940 and served three years in Iran on the Persian Gulf, he was discharged in 1945. A resident of Connell, Wash., the past 40 years, he was employed by Welch Brothers, and was a member of the American Legion Post #196 for many years.

Graveside service for Myrup was held at the Mountain View Cemetery in Connell with the Rev. Howard James officiating. Myrup was preceded in death by his father Chris and one sister, Dorothy.

His is survived by his wife, Ruth and daughters Lisa McCary and Wilma Miller and his son, Aaron Lester of Connell; his mother Millie Myrup of Lusk; three sisters, Tillie Parmely and Laura Alexander, Manville and Betty Johnson, Torrington; two brothers, Don Myrup, Lusk and Alfred Myrup, Torrington; six grandchildren, one step grandchild and one great grandson.
