Katrine Anna Mariegard

Funeral services for Katrine Anna Mariegard, age 93, were held July 12, 2003, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brad Eakins officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Katrine Mariegard died on July 8, 2003, at Goshen Care Center in Torrington.

She was born July 12, 1909, in Manville, the daughter of Christen W. and Ane Marie (Andersen) Larsen. She grew up and attended school in Manville until the eighth grade when she went to work on the family homestead.

She met and married Nels Mariegard and the couple was married Nov. 10, 1928, in Hot Springs, S.D. They moved to his homestead southwest of Keeline, where they raised their family. Nels Mariegard died March 18, 1958; Katrine moved to Torrington in 1968.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Torrington and United Methodist Women; American Legion Auxiliary, where she served as past President; charter member of the 5280 Extension Homemakers Club at Keeline; and a 4-H leader at the Keeline Mile High 4-H Club.

Katrine enjoyed gardening, horseback riding, sewing and volunteering. She loved her family and was known for her home-made lemon pie.

She is survived by one son, Gary Mariegard of Columbus, Miss.; two daughters, Evelyn Donovan of Rapid City, S.D., and Caroll Douglas of Juneau, Alaska; a brother, Hans W. "Bill" Larsen of Douglas, Wyo.; and a sister, Nellie Kathka of Napa, Calif.; two grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and eight step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death be her parents, husband, two brothers and four sisters.

Those who wish may direct memorial contributions to either the Torrington Senior Friendship Center or the Torrington United Methodist Church.

Arrangements were under the direction of Colyer Funeral Home.
